Confirmation Program for 7th and 8th grade students is a two year learning, fellowship, and servant program which prepares youth to be full members of the church. In the spring of their 8th grade school year, students are Confirmed in an Affirmation of Baptism service. Confirmands attend weekly classes on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 6:40 and on Sundays mornings from 9:45 to 10:45.
Regular worship attendance is an ongoing expectation.
Leadership roles are a way for Confirmands to explore the ways in which they can participate in membership after they are confirmed. Students participate in a leadership, and help lead worship by service as acolytes, ushers, and musicians.
Teambuilding Retreats occur in the fall for 7th and 8th grade combined and in the spring for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades individually. Retreats are held at the Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Center (LOMC) near Oregon, IL. The youth love these opportunities to connect with one another and with God through nature.
Service and fellowship opportunities during the year help the youth to become aware of the needs of the community and the importance of fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ.
Chicago Youth Ministry Network works to connect Lutheran youth throughout the Metro Chicago Synod by hosting lock-ins, servant opportunities, and retreats.
Youth Drama Troupe is an excellent way to teach the Bible and offers enjoyable entertainment for all. The Troupe is made up of 7th and 8th graders who perform during worship, at our annual Seder Meal, and at the Sunday School Christmas Program.
