High School students are invited to participate in various leadership, educational, fellowship and service opportunities in the congregation, which help them explore individual next steps in their faith journey.
Youth Forum for high school youth meets sunday mornings from 9:45 to 10:45. Bible studies and “hot topic” discussions keep the forums fresh and interesting for the active teens.
Youth Drama Troupe is an excellent way to teach the Bible and offers enjoyable entertainment for all. The Troupe perform during worship, at our annual Seder Meal, and at the Sunday School Christmas Program.
Summer Mission Trip is a week long servant opportunity that occurs during the last week of July in a non-Youth Gathering year. In 2010 the youth traveled to Iowa to learn about sustainable farming and helped on four different sustainable farms. This summer the youth are participating in a cultural immersion program with the Lakota Indians on Pine Ridge Reservation in Manderson, South Dakota. ELCA Youth Gathering. is a five day national event that brings together Lutheran youth from across the country for worship, service, learning, and fellowship every three years. St. Luke’s has a longstanding tradition of bringing a large group of youth to the Gathering. The next Youth Gathering will take place in July 2012 in New Orleans, Louisiana, under the theme, Citizens with the Saints. St. Luke’s Youth are making their preparations travel to New Orleans. Help support our youth!
Graduate Blessing honors our high school graduate. Graduates and parents are invited to receive a blessing during the 10am worship service on June 5, 2011. Our prayer shawl ministry provides all graduates with a prayer shawl.
Alumni Youth meet on the Sunday after Christmas for a brunch. The Education Cabinet works to maintain contact with our alumni throughout the years, sending them care packages and keeping the congregation updated on where our students are continuing their education.
