Lent and Holy Week 2018

Ash Wednesday, February 14 — Imposition of Ashes and Holy Communion at 12 Noon (followed by a soup luncheon) and at 7:00 pm. (a family service with participation and music by the children)

Wednesday Evenings, during Lent the sanctuary will be open for silent reflection and meditation from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. You are invited to use an individual study guide while meditating in our beautiful candlelit sanctuary. At 7:00 pm. Pastor Johnson will lead a study on one of these promises under the theme “Forming a Faithful Foundation”:

Wednesday, February 21 – LIVE among God’s Faithful People – Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Wednesday, February 28 – HEAR the Word of God and share in the supper – Marty Haugen
Wednesday, March 7 – PROCLAIM the good news of God in Christ through Word and Deed – Martin Luther King, Jr.
Wednesday, March 14 – SERVE all people following the example of Jesus – Mother Theresa
Wednesday, March 21 – STRIVE for justice and peace – Bishop Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela

Sunday of the Passion (Palm Sunday) March 25, 8:30 and 11:00 a.m.— Worship with the Procession of Palms, Reading from the Passion according to St. Mark, Holy Communion

Maundy Thursday, March 29, 12:00 Noon — Service with Foot washing and Holy Communion (followed by a Soup Luncheon) 7:00 pm — Service with Foot washing and Holy Communion,  concludes with the Stripping of the Altar.

Good Friday, March 30, 12:00 noon — An ecumenical service of readings and reflections by members of the Park Ridge Ministerial Association, with musical reflections by the Montag Ensemble String Quartet playing The Seven Last Words of Christ by Franz Joseph Haydn. At 7:00 pm — Service includes the Passion According to St. John by Christopher Walker.

Vigil of Easter: March 31, 7:00 pm — Worship with blessing of new fire, readings, affirmation of baptism and Holy Communion

Easter Sunday: April 1, 8:30 am. and 11:00 am. —  Festival of the Resurrection Services with Holy Communion (Easter Breakfast at 9:30 a.m.)
