.A contingent from St. Luke’s (and friends of St. Luke’s) begin their journey to Jordan, Israel, Palestine and Egypt on June 7th!  The travelers have had numerous preparatory meetings.

Who is along on the journey?

  • Lynda Minnick, Melinda Hoiland and Stephen Larson are coordinating details of the trip.  Rebecca Larson, Barbara Burswold, Adam Cartwright, Paul Edison-Swift, Sue Edison-Swift, Daniel Hoiland, Kiersten Hoiland, Anne Keffer, Shirley Larson, BethAnn Lynch and Karen Mears are all from St. Luke’s.

  • Friends of St. Luke’s include Alan Swiglo and Sharon Swiglo (Pastor Weber’s parents from Glen Ellyn), Katie Larson and Lance Wiliford (Pastor Larson’s daughter and son-in-law from Toronto), Sarah Rinehart (a St. Olaf College classmate of Kiersten Hoiland) and Bill Kees and Carolyn Kees (former St. Luke’s members now living in California).

What might they all expect?

  • A life changing encounter with the land we call holy.

  • A life changing encounter with the modern descendants of Abraham and Sarah and Hagar.

  • The current political reality will be encountered as the group hopes to transit The Separation Wall when they make the short trip from Jerusalem to Bethlehem and again when they visit the Lutheran World Federation’s hospital on the Mount of Olives.
Through it all, prayer has been a part of the preparation as well – prayers for the peoples and nations to be visited; prayers for all the children of Abraham, Sarah and Hagar; prayers for the participants; prayers for the St. Luke’s congregational community.

Check the new dazzling bulletin board in Fox Hall for details of their itinerary and check the group travel journal regularly.  To obtain the journal password, call the congregation office at 847/825-6659 or send e-mail .
