I always enjoy the Adult Forums.  They are really varied, and that’s the wonder of it.  There is something for everyone.

I like the rotation every week in Sunday School.  You get to do computer workshop, art workshop, drama, temple, and sometimes you get to watch movies.  I’ve made a lot of new friends in Sunday School.

Telling Our Story . . .

Diane Barounis

I come to St. Luke’s because our worship service opens my heart to God’s presence and action in my life.  It is where I find peace and joy every Sunday as we come together to  experience God’s love in Word and Sacrament. Receiving communion is at the very heart of our liturgy and for me it is an especially powerful means by which I feel God’s love at work within me. In receiving the body and blood of Christ in the Eucharist and also in watching other members of our church come forward to do the same, I am deeply aware that we all are loved and forgiven children of God, all part of Christ’s living body, called to be like him— to serve those in need and to care for each other and all the earth. At St. Luke’s, I find deep spiritual nourishment as I continue to try to live out God’s call to me, and to each of us, that we be a means through which God’s love and compassion is made real in the world.

Lynda Minnick

I’m at St. Luke’s because here I am regularly reminded of God’s love and forgiveness and sustenance.  Somehow, I can’t speak the Word to myself — I need to hear it from others.  I hear it in the music, the homily, the words “given for you,” and in engagement with others in service to the world.  I see God at St. Luke’s in our worship, in the welcome offered to the stranger, in the sharing of pain and struggle and joy, in the way the community comes together to support those who grieve, in all the people who reach outside our walls to make a difference in the lives of others.  In short, I’m fed and challenged at St. Luke’s!

Telling our Story. . .

Claire Buettner

I like to live and worship within the liturgy—the yearly cycle of Christ’s life and teachings—the liturgy in worship that connects the texts, with the music and the preaching.

I like to keep learning through Bible study and also through the study of topics that impact each of our lives and the lives of people around the world.

I want to serve with others who are concerned about people around the world and want to do what we can to inform ourselves, advocate for justice for the less fortunate, and do what we can to alleviate suffering here and abroad.

I want to belong to a community where I am given the opportunity and encouragement to share in the care and fellowship that members feel for each other.

St. Luke’s is a caring and giving church where we are welcomed and find values that represent our family’s values:

  • A congregation that gives 20% to the greater church, making a difference locally and globally;
  • A congregation that engages the whole world thru its programs, and missionaries;
  • A congregation that balances it’s budget;
  • A congregation that offers a variety of programs for our children.

As a family, we were invited to be members and invited to be involved in this church’s mission.
