Camp Allegro

Camp Allegro is a music and fine arts camp that takes place in the mornings for one week during the summer.  All children entering Kindergarten through 6th grade in the fall are invited to take part.   Themes vary each year, alternating between learning about music from various parts of the world and presenting a musical.  Children sing, play Orff and rhythm instruments, learn from special guests, have fun making crafts and eating various snacks, play games and participate in a service project together.  The week culminates by sharing music in a worship service on Thursday evening and visiting a local retirement home on Friday morning.

Camp Allegro 2012 will be July 9-13, for children entering Kindergarten through 6th grade.  This year we will present a musical called Elijah! God’s Faithful Prophet, which is a wonderful story about the prophet Elijah from the Old Testament, his faith and trust in God and a contest that he has with the King who thinks that his (the King’s) gods are better than Elijah’s.  The king learns HIS lesson!   If you want to read about it, you’ll find it recorded in 1 Kings, chapters 17 and 18.  The musical presentation will be during the Thursday worship service on July 12 at 7:00 PM and at St. Matthew’s Center for Health on Friday, July 13 at 10:00 AM.

The cost is $50.00 per child, $120.00 family. For more information, contact Melinda Hoiland.
