Gethsemane Window

In the East Balcony we find two windows depicting people who struggle with God — Jacob and Jesus:

Jesus prays in the Garden of Gethsemane prior to his crucifixion. And going a little farther, he threw himself on the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet not what I want but what you want.” Matthew 26:36-45“Keep awake and pray that you may not come into the time of trial; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Mark 14:32-41 Given by Augusta H. Steege, 1961
