A Firm Foundation
Becky’s Story

The daughter of a Lutheran school teacher and a pastor – the father who baptized, confirmed, married and then baptized both her children – Becky Bork has a firm faith foundation. This faith is something she shares with her husband Jeff and they helped cultivate in their son Philip and daughter Julia.
When looking for a church home where they could grow in their faith as a family, St. Luke’s delivered on the multiple fronts – close to home (key when managing two careers and two kids very busy with sports and activities), a strong, traditional worship tradition, an active children’s program, an amazing music program and engaging pastoral leadership. St. Luke’s also delivered in programming, providing multiple opportunities to live their faith and engage with fellow members. Becky used her organizational skills to coordinate Sunday coffee hour volunteers for years. Her professional expertise helped the St. Luke’s human resources committee meet its mission to support the church staff. Similarly, Jeff served two terms on the congregation council along with five years on the Finance Management team. Becky and Jeff appreciate the many opportunities – both short- and long-term – for members to engage in service at St. Luke’s.
As Becky and Jeff live into a new phase of life as empty-nesters, they appreciate that St. Luke’s remains a warm and welcoming environment for worship and connection. Becky’s prayer is that new families in Park Ridge find the same opportunities, experience the same camaraderie at St. Luke’s that helped sustain faith foundations and build them for the next generation.
